RUS GUTIN is currently based in Los Angeles, CA. He is a graduate of the Musical Theatre Program at AMDA in New York.
RUS has been a professional stand-up comedian for 13 years, starting at the age of 19 @ CAROLINE'S in Times Square. Since then he has appeared at L.A. & NYC's most premiere clubs: STAND-UP NY, NEW YORK COMEDY CLUB, THE VILLAGE LANTERN, GOTHAM COMEDY CLUB, THE HA-HA CAFE, MELTDOWN COMICS, FLAPPER's, THE LAUGH FACTORY & THE IMPROV. PLUS, appearing in a sketch on "CHELSEA LATELY"...
"UNCLE RUS", ( as he's come to be known in the comedy world ), has just completed a historic 2 year run as the headliner & co-producer of "FRIDAY NITE LIVE" every Friday night @ THE WORLD FAMOUS COMEDY STORE in THE BELLY ROOM. Where the LA EXAMINER declared Rus, "a compelling mixture of WOODY ALLEN & SAM KINISON. Something akin to Jewish angst on meth." During this run, Rus has released 3 dvd's as an "epic stand-up jew-ology": 2009's "LIVE IN PHILLY", 2010's "BACK IN NYC" and his latest, 2011's "KNOCKIN' UP SUNSET". All documenting his hilarious and slightly racist journey from young brash comic to terrified young father...
As a writer, director and producer RUS created the hit Off-Broadway musical, GANGSTAPELLA. GANGSTAPELLA is the story of the world's first gangsta-rap a capella group of all white people and one asian, midget, samuri beat-box. Besides being a hit musical and successful "Spinal-Tap"-esque band, GANGSTAPELLA is currently being developed as an adult animated series for television. Rus has also written comedy for the likes of Alan Thicke & Broadway & Country mega star LAURA BELL BUNDY. Including sketches for her new series, "COOTER COUNTY".
As a SAG and AFTRA actor, Rus has appeared in several films and commercials. Most recently, Rus starred as "Duke" in the redneck caper comedy, "HOLD ON LOOSELY" & "SweetTooth" in the new web-series, "OH, OLIVER!". Rus also co-starred along with Harland Williams in the movie "SURF SCHOOL" as the flamboyantly gay, Costa Rican surf announcer, "Roberto".
